Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP) is a rare, slow-growing but locally aggressive soft tissue sarcoma that arises from the dermis (the middle layer of skin). It is typically characterized by the presence of a protuberant, firm nodule or mass on the skin, often in the trunk, upper limbs, or head and neck. Although DFSP rarely metastasizes to distant organs, it has a tendency to invade local tissues, including muscle, fat, and bone.
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare, slow-growing but locally aggressive skin cancer. It is most commonly treated with wide local excision, and Mohs surgery or Imatinib can be considered in certain cases. Although metastasis is rare, it’s important to monitor for recurrence through regular follow-up visits.
